In October of 2019, I became active as a photographer in the DIY music scene of Asheville, NC. My first and closest contacts happened by chance with a band called 13agh3ad. After doing photography, fine art, and social media management for them, they disbanded during 2020's covid-19 pandemic. The frontman, my close friend Hamish Horton, then approached me in October 2021 to begin building the live band and presence of his new project, Machine 13. I hadn't played music in nearly a decade at that point, and knew nothing about playing keys, synthesizers, or DAWs. It was a perfect fit, and I joined as "Mech Pilot", running Ableton Live backing and samples, midi noise and textures via key-board controller, and playing Hamish's Korg Minilogue. Naturally, this would lead to me creating music separately on my own. In February of 2022 I embraced my transgender identity and began recording electronic music with harsh vocals and EDM influence in my bedroom to express my experience. Throughout 2022 I purchased my own Korg Minilogue XD, released my first single Chemical, played my first shows, and began recording my first EP, "(Self Titled)". "(Self Titled)" by Juniper Willow released March 17th, 2023.
